Five Tips for Using Our Courier Service

It's Xylia, the dispatcher at Custom Courier Service. Last time, I talked about what services we offer and why an individual or business might hire a courier service.

Today, I am going to give you all some handy tips for using a local courier service like Custom Courier Service!

  1. Speed up the order placing process: Have your pickup and delivery addresses ready when you call or email to place your order or get a quote. This will allow the dispatcher to quickly calculate the mileage between locations and get you a quote FAST. Other information to have on hand that can help speed up your quote or order:

  2. Contact name at both locations with phone numbers

  3. Sizes of items in the order

  4. Weight of each item or total weight of the entire order

  5. Any special instructions that we should convey to the driver (i.e. "call upon arrival" or "leave at the front desk").

  6. Place your order ahead of time if possible: It really helps us to provide the best service to everyone if some orders are able to be placed at least the day before service is needed. We understand that this is not always possible and that is why we offer same-day delivery and RUSH delivery. But, is placing your order ahead of time is possible, it greatly improves our ability to get it scheduled quickly and get a driver out during the time slot you need. Plus, you will never need to pay an extra fee for RUSH delivery if you place it ahead of time! You can even create an account to place your order into our system yourself!

  7. Have items pre-packaged: If your items need to be in a package, please make sure they are packed ahead of time in boxes, bags, or envelopes. If the items are being delivered to a shipping center (i.e. FedEx, USPS, or UPS), please have pre-paid labels attached to each package. Having all of this done before the driver arrives helps in two ways:

  8. Your items will be well protected in whatever packaging that they are packed in. All our drivers are careful with all items, but fragile items will be most safe when well packaged!

  9. It will speed up the pickup and delivery process so that all of our customers' orders are done on time, every time!

  10. Ask about our special services: A lot of our services are listed on our website, but we also offer customized services. We can't even begin to list all the customized services we can offer because it varies from customer to customer! If you have something you need delivered and it's not a service listed on our website, do not fret! Just call 503-228-1705 or email with the details of the service and see if we can figure out how to get it done for you! We will always try and accommodate all your delivery needs!

  11. Call or Email us with questions! If you aren't sure what exactly your needs are or whether we offer them, just call or email and ask. Our dispatcher is around 8:30am to 5:00pm to answer your questions.
